Privacy Policy
For the purposes of the General Data Protection Regulation (“GDPR”) and UK data protection laws, the controller is Shoal Consulting Ltd, U.K.
This privacy policy sets out the way we process your personal data and we’ve created this privacy policy to make sure you are aware of how we use your data.
How do we collect your personal data?
When you register on the Shoal Consulting website you agree to have your details stored on our database. Your data may also be collected through your contact or interaction with Shoal. We use your data to assist you in your search for a teaching job overseas. We may also collect your data through your responses to our social media feeds, conferences and through third parties.
We do not knowingly collect personal information from individuals under 18 years of age.
How do we use your personal data?
We use your personal information in a number of ways, such as to provide and customise the services you request and expect from Shoal Consulting. The main service we provide is recruitment and as such the data you provide may be shared with schools that you are interested in. We will request prior permission before sending any data, such as a CV to a school recruiter. We will also use your email address and phone number to inform you of jobs we have that may match your search criteria.
Who is responsible for the information?
Shoal Consulting Ltd is the legal controller of the data and determines the purposes and means of processing. Shoal Consulting takes reasonable measures to protect personal information from unauthorised access, disclosure, alteration or destruction and keeps personal data accurate and up-to-date. In order to offer you the expected level of services, we may share your personal information among the members of the Shoal Consulting team. There may be automated decision-making, including profiling, in order to tailor our jobs to the needs of our customers and to allow teachers to receive relevant information.
Retaining Personal Information
We retain personal information for the period necessary to fulfil the purposes outlined in this statement, unless a longer retention period is required by law. We will destroy your personal information two years after your last activity, or for as long as you benefit from our services.
Your rights
Under certain circumstances, by law you have the right to:
Request access to your personal data (commonly known as a “data subject access request”). This enables you to receive a copy of the personal data we hold about you and to check that we are lawfully processing it.
Request correction of the personal data that we hold about you. This enables you to have any incomplete or inaccurate information we hold about you corrected.
Request erasure of your personal data. This enables you to ask us to delete or remove personal data where there is no good reason for us continuing to process it. You also have the right to ask us to delete or remove your personal data where you have exercised your right to object to processing (see below).
Object to processing of your personal data where we are relying on a legitimate interest (or those of a third party) and there is something about your particular situation which makes you want to object to processing on this ground. You also have the right to object where we are processing your personal data for direct marketing purposes.
Request the restriction of processing of your personal data. This enables you to ask us to suspend the processing of personal data about you, for example if you want us to establish its accuracy or the reason for processing it. You can also withdraw your consent, where this is the basis for our processing your data (without affecting the lawfulness of our previous processing based on consent).
Request the transfer of your personal data to another party.
Please note that the above rights are not absolute, and we may be entitled to refuse requests where exceptions apply.
